l According to Professor Lin Chong-Pin, of Taiwan’s Tamkang University’s Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies, there are “overlapping ambitions between Tsai and Xi Jinping” that make a calamitous deterioration of relations unlikely.

l “Tsai will already be looking forward to re-election in 2020, and for that she has to deliver economic stability,” he says. “The next four years would also constitute two-thirds of the remaining term of Xi Jinping, and he would hate to see his record for Taiwan and cross-strait relations remaining blank at the end.”

● 一向以嚴謹科學態度報導自然和人類現象的國家地理雜誌在2015年終以封面專題方式呈現上千年來遍佈世界各地聖母瑪利亞現身的靈跡。沒想到內容如此豐富!! 有些靈跡已經過教廷嚴格審查認證。有些靈跡的確帶來治癒病患的結果。有些靈跡之後出現封聖的人物。值得注意的是廿世紀中期後，顯聖頻率上升明顯。聖母瑪利亞是可蘭經中唯一的女性，受穆斯林敬重，尤其為穆斯林女性信仰。法國Lourdes是19世紀上半不識字的修女Bernadette 見到聖母之處，泉水出現治癒上千人。Bernadette 死後栩栩如生，開棺三次，封聖。

Now a pair of economists have found evidence that the opposite is true. An Emory University survey of heterosexual adults found that men who spent more than $2,000 on a ring were more likely to end up divorced than grooms who spent less. Burdensome wedding debt may be one source of marriage stress, says Emory’s Hugo Mialon. Also, the types of couples who have thrifty nuptials may just be better matched and thus less divorce prone, he says. Something else the survey associated with lasting unions?
