2014年歐巴馬積極任命Cassandra Butts為巴哈馬大使。但反對黨兩位參議員先後杯葛，而且第二位承認很尊重Cassandra Butts之專業，杯葛只是要歐巴馬感到痛。Cassandra Butts大可去私人企業賺大錢。她沒有。她一共等了835天，在今年6月過世，享年50歲。至今，巴哈馬大使空缺已有1,647天。

l     This harbingers a new era in Asia Pacific power balance. South China Sea may gradually become a Chinese lake as the Carribean Sea has been an American Lake. Japan's tilt toward China that has just begun with Abe's appointment of a China hand as the ambassador to Bejing and the recent unreciprocated visit of Japanese foreign minister to Beijing will become more prominent. The Phillipines under president Duterte obviously will move west.

l   May the more enlightened policy advisors to Beijing remind the leaders that it is in the long-term interest of a rising China to peacefully co-develop the resources of the maritime regions of East Asia.

l   The difference is between a Pax Sinica of only one century like Pax Britannica or Pax Americana and a Pax Sinica of two to three centuries.

l  More than this, China is helping Subsahara? African countries to build a railway network called "East Africa Common Market Railroad Network"and to teach them plant grains and fruit in the vast expanse of unused land. The grains will be shipped to China through Guadar in Pakistan via a railaroad being constructed now to Urumqi, and will feed the Chinese population whose grain supplies are insufficient currently. The fruit will be exported to Europe and make money for the African countries. This is what I meant by "dots connected to form lines which are swept to become space"-- the grand strategy behind "One Belt One Road".

"在近平23歲生日的那天晚上，在習老爺子激動不已的講述中，我得知近平年少時，經受過非人的折磨。

文化大革命開始的時候，近平剛13歲，只因為說了幾句反對文化大革命的話，他本人被打成了現行反革命分子。被列為敵我矛盾，在中央黨校的院子裡關押了起來。中央黨校召開批判6個走資派的大會，最後一個人就是近平，前5個都是成年人，第一個是楊獻珍。6個人戴著相同的鐵制高帽子，帽子重，壓得13歲的近平受不了，只好用兩隻手吃力地托著，表情不可能不痛苦。可是，心裡比他還痛苦的還有一個人：媽媽齊心。不得不參加批鬥會的媽媽就坐在台下，臺上喊打倒習近平時，媽媽被迫舉手，跟著大家喊口號，打倒她自己親生的兒子，不敢不喊，想哭還不敢哭。批鬥完了，雖近在咫尺，母子想見也不能見。一次意外的相見，還成為媽媽一生的痛！一天夜裡下大雨，趁著看守不注意，近平跳窗戶跑回了家，媽媽嚇壞了，問他怎麼回來了？媽媽，我餓。又冷又餓的近平哆哆嗦嗦地說。想讓媽媽給弄點吃的，然後進房間換衣服。近平萬萬沒有想到，媽媽不但沒有給他做飯吃，反而在他不知情的情況下，冒著大雨向領導報告去了。近平知道不是媽媽心狠，而是被逼無奈。如果敢不去報告，就是包庇現行反革命，媽媽肯定也會被抓走，那樣，遠平和安安怎麼辦？他倆還是小孩子啊！饑腸轆轆的近平，永遠堅強不屈的近平，那一刻當著姐姐安安和弟弟遠平的面無聲地哭了。他餓著肚子又跑進了雨夜。離黨校不遠的頤和園，一個看工地的老頭兒收留了他，讓他在一張連椅上熬過了一夜，第二天，就被抓進“少管所”勞動改造。北京許多城建基礎設施，比如西城區地下排汙管道的修建，近平都流下過辛勞的汗水和傷心的淚水，因為，他幹活的時候，上面有員警拿著棒子！
